There’s no account to create and nothing is sent to a server. TaskPop saves every change on your Mac, keeps a backup of the previous save, and lets you export your list to a file whenever you want.

Installed in about a minute.

  1. Download the installer

    Choose the version for your Mac below and open the downloaded disk image.

  2. Open “Install TaskPop”

    Double-click the installer. Because TaskPop isn’t from the App Store, macOS asks you to confirm it the first time.

  3. Confirm once in System Settings

    Go to Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. Then follow the installer.

  4. Look up at your menu bar

    TaskPop opens as soon as it’s installed and starts with your Mac from then on. Press ⌃⌥T any time.

Not sure which Mac you have?

Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner and choose About This Mac. If it says Chip: Apple M1 (or M2, M3, M4…), download Apple Silicon. If it says Processor: Intel, download Intel.

Questions

Why does macOS ask me to confirm the installer?

TaskPop isn’t distributed through the Mac App Store, so macOS asks you to confirm it the first time. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.

Which Macs does TaskPop work on?

Any Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later. There are separate downloads for Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) and Intel Macs.

Where are my tasks saved?

Only on your Mac, in the TaskPop folder inside Application Support. Every change is saved straight away with a backup of the previous version. You can export your tasks to a file from Settings.

Can I change the keyboard shortcut?

Yes. Open Settings from the menu bar icon, click the shortcut and press the keys you want to use.

Will it pop up every time I unlock my Mac?

By default it appears when you open the lid and when you unlock the screen. You can turn either of these off in Settings.

Does it sync between Macs?

No, your tasks stay on the Mac you use. To move them to another Mac, export them from Settings and import the file there.

How do I update TaskPop?

Download the newest version and run the installer. It replaces the old version and keeps your tasks and settings.

How do I uninstall it?

Click the TaskPop icon in the menu bar, turn off Open at Login and choose Quit. Then drag TaskPop from Applications to the Trash. To remove your tasks too, delete the TaskPop folder in ~/Library/Application Support.
